    3. Hi all, If anyone recognizes these people, please email me. These people are all tied in together but I don't know how. 1. Frances Miller married Thomas Bridges August 25, 1831 in McDonough County, Illinois. They were married by James Vance. 2. Cellena, Hellena or Ellen Miller married James Vance on August 25, 1831. I am not sure if James's dad married or how that worked. I do know there was a James Vance who was the first Justice of the Peace in Industry, IL. 3. Lernie B. Miller who was married to Amy Bridges, died very young. Lernie and Amy had a son named John Miller. At 2 1/2 years, John was taken in by his uncle, James Vance. James Vance is the brother of Margaret Vance who was married to John Bridges. Margaret and John are the parents of Amy Bridges. Got any questions, email me. My website is located at: http://people.ce.mediaone.net/backster/bridges.html Information about Thomas and Frances is located at: http://people.ce.mediaone.net/backster/thomas.html Vances, email me on that. thanks, Julie:)

    3. Clare, >>A Samuel Neal Vance was b. in 1807, Clark Co., Ohio. I understand that according to the "History of Oregon" by Bancroft, Vol. 1, Immigration of 1843 that Samuel Neal Vance and his family arrived in Oregon.<< Can you give me the names of Samuel's children and the places where he lived? My Marcella "Marcena" Vance married Alexander Reeves in Sangamon Co., IL in 1846. She was born abt 1827 in what is now WV and her family lived for a while in OH. Her father was "a riverboat captain" on the Ohio River and I would imagine that they lived in several states. I don't know who he was or what became of him. Widowed Marcena moved to Portland, Oregon in about 1875...alone with her youngest 4 children, all under the age of 10. We can't imagine that she came here not knowing someone already here. Carole in Portland, Oregon

    2. A Samuel Neal Vance was b. in 1807, Clark Co., Ohio. He m. 1st: a Miss Howell; and 2nd: Mary E. Hamilton Willis. I understand that according to the "History of Oregon" by Bancroft, Vol. 1, Immigration of 1843 that Samuel Neal Vance and his family arrived in Oregon. Does anyone know the parents of Samuel Neal Vance? Does anyone have access to this book? I am researching Neal and Vance. I do not know who this person was but the combination of two names that I am researching is of great interest to me. I am very interested in how he could have been given a middle name of Neal. 3. My Marcena Vance's children were Rebecca, Harriet Josephine, James, Vashti, Barbara Ann, Alexander, Jr.; Thomas A., John H., Abraham Lincoln, Daisy, Lorena, and Susannah Reeves. The last three girls were born after the death of her husband Alexander Reeves and we don't know who their father was. She brought the girls and her youngest son Abe out West in the early 1870s. We don't know if she came with another family or came planning to meet someone here. I never saw the name Marcella until she started using it when she was much older. Carole in Portland

    3. This may not be of any help but I also have a Vance link from VA/WV. My link is as follows: Alexander Vance - Born 14 Mar 1814 in the Shenandoah Valley Virginia Married Susan Sloane on 14 Mar 1839. She was born on 10 Aug 1820 in Sullivan Indiana. They both died in Wisconsin. They had three children that we know of: John Mary and Mills. All of this information came from birth, marriage, death and Census records. According to my father, He found two possible families in the Shenandoah Valley area that had Male Children about the right age. As I said, this may not be of any help, but I thought I would throw this out just in case. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carole Hammond" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 01, 2001 1:52 AM Subject: Marcella/Marcena Vance, b ca 1828, WV>OH>IL>OR>WA > Do you have the parents of your Alexander Vance...or his siblings? > > My Marcena (Marcella) Vance was born about 1827 in what is now WV, the > daughter of a river boat captain. 2. Hi Gang, I'm sending this so that what happened to me doesn't happen to you. I have lost all my files from N to Z. I have my files by individual surnames and special events; ie. Civil War, Naturalization, Snail Mail address, etc. When I spoke to Juno they said that you could only have 250 files. My A to M files number 252 and that is why I lost all the rest. PLEASE BE AWARE. Juno does not give you any warning nor do they have a method to tell you how many files you have. I should have printed out the important files but I didn't and now they are gone. I hope this will help some of you so that what happened to me doesn't happen to you. Clare in Fla.
