    3. I found a new site for records and documents for Pennsylvania where you can copy them also. So far they have Series 1, 8, 9 and Colonial Records. Early Settlements 1664-1800, Revolutionary War 1775-1789, Wiskey Rebellion 1801-1810, and more Pennsylvania History. I entered the Vance surname and got 410 hits. 3. Hi, I am researching the ancestors and descendants of Francis Edlow and Martha Richardson (Wells) Taylor. One question I have is regarding the birthdates for Francis, Martha and their children. Can anyone tell me where those came from? Does someone have a family Bible perhaps? I am attempting to document with original source material as much as possible, and so far I have not been able to find anything regarding the birthdates. I am not descended from this family myself, although I may be descended from the same Thornton line, if those connections prove out. My husband is superintendent at Fort Richardson State Park. Francis was apparently in the military here at the Fort in the 1870's, although I need to confirm that. Two of their grandsons - sons of Julia Stanton - are buried here. My husband asked me to research their family in the interest of preserving the history of the park, to know more about the family. It is not intended for profit of any kind. I would love to hear from descendants of Francis and Martha Taylor. And I'd enjoy visiting with descendants of Robley and Julia (Taylor) Stanton - hoping for more information about this family. Below is what I show for Francis and Martha and their children and for Julia and Robley Stanton. Some of this is from Worldconnect and some is from source material. There may be errors - which is what I'm checking for. It is definitely a work in progress. I would be happy to exchange information. I hope to hear from you and hope you can help. Kind regards, Dee FRANCIS EDLOW TAYLOR born February 25, 1815 in Kentucky, and died January 30, 1903 in Decatur, Wise County, Texas. 3. Hello, Jean. If you can locate and contact any direct male descendants of John U. Vance and persuade them to do a 37-marker test, then you might be able to prove or disprove a link to the Thomas and Rebecca (Mounts) Vance who wound up in Rockwall Co., TX. At the Vance/Vans Y-DNA Project web site (vancegenealogy.com), the kit number to use for a comparison is N8118. I haven't had any luck finding descendants of Thomas Vance with the Vance surname, but it's been a while since I tried. Harold Vance vance-request@rootsweb.com wrote: >Today's Topics: > > 1. There are connections to the McCrays, Hatfields, Vances, Smallwood-Wynns, Deans,Carrs, They are all intermarried and related to each other going back to before the revolution. They are from Virginia, Loudon County or Augusta or Pa. The area was once quite the place and was decimated after the railroad replaced the canal system for moving goods etc. It's terribly sad. I will persevere. There is much to be discovered there Best wishes, Laurel

He was born about the same time, but married Elizabeth McCray, probably in Virginia, and moved to the vicinity of Lexington, Kentucky, where he died about 1809. A lawsuit over his estate names his heirs, which are clearly not the same as the heirs of your Patrick. Unfortunately, we do not have a lot of detail about the family of my Patrick. There are differing reports about where he came from, and there are no clues about who his parents might have been. I am particularly interest in any mention of Vances and McCrays in southwestern PA and northern Virginia.

My ancestor Patrick Vance was born about 1747 and moved west to the vicinity of Lexington, Kentucky about 1792, and so is not likely the father of your Thomas. Patrick was married to Elizabeth McCray, probably in the vicinity of Winchester, VA. This family is not well documented - and there are conflicting reports about the place of origin of the family. We believe he is related to some of the Vance's of Winchester, Virginia, but there may be more than one unrelated Vance family in Winchester. There may yet be a connection, but records in early Virginia and Pennsylvania are painfully scarce.
