    3. I'm still trying every avenue to find the parents of my great great grandfather, JOHN Vanasdal, who was born in 1823 in PA, or maybe WVA. My newest possible clue got messed up by S.S. so I'm going to ask for some help. I sent for the S.S. application of John Vanasdal's grandson, SAMUEL JESTUS Vanasdal and I had hoped that maybe the application would show the full given name of his father, CORRIDINE, or C.C. Vanasdal, would be given and hoped the full name would give a clue if patronomic naming was used. Well, something happened, either in the copying of the application and there is a dark line right down the middle of Corridine's middle name. It appears to be a five letter name, beginning with C and ending with ERY. Can anybody find, or think of, any of the Van given names that could fit that description? In other words, can anybody fill in C-ERY to go with any known names in their family histories? I also don't know where the Jestus in Samuel's name comes from, and I suppose it may be a hint, but I've never seen that name posted, nor do I have it in any of my data. It may be from his mother's side of the family and I know very little about her side. I've run into brick walls every where I turn on John, and I'm desperate. I sent for death certificates for two William Vanasdals who died in Licking County, OHone of them in 1900, the other in 1905, and they don't have either one. I was hoping to find a brother or maybe even his father. I may have to change my maiden name soon, before I lose my mind trying to find my Van roots. Barb, in MS barbJ@prodigy.net
