The Six Mile Run church Dutch Reformed church at the Franklin Park, Somerset County, was organized on Nov. 15, 1710, but no baptismal records are known to exist prior to 1743, excect about a dozen by the founder, Paulus van Vlecq. During the period covered by this record, the pastors at SMR were Theodorus J. Frelinghuysen, 1720-1747, Johannes Arondeus, acting at times, 1747-1754 Johannes Leydt 1748-1783; John M. van Harlingen, 1787-1795; James S. Cannon, 1797-1826. Because of concern for its preservation, the baptismal register od the SMR is not generally available (!!). In 1919, a careful transcription was made and printed in the Somerset Historical Quarterly. This publication is limited and frequently not avaiable to the researcher. These records are reprinted for the conveninece of the readers of the New Jersey Genesis, particularly those who have New Jersey Dutch Ancestry.
