Hello, Nancy and LaVonne - Thank you so much for putting these Bible records on the Van web, because my Van family matches up with one of the names in the Bible, although I can't figure out the differences in Iowa records. I have worked on my Van family for many, many years, however. You have as a son of Samuel and Rebecca King Van Orsdel, William Harding Van Orsdel b. 7 Jan 1853. Buried in Mills County IA, Glenwood Cemetery, is William A. Van Orsdel, b. 1858 PA (although that could have been an error in copying) d. 13 June 1912, age 53y3m10d. I sent for a certified copy of this death record because he is named in my g-g-g-grandfather's will as his son. The certified record came back with the names of Samuel Van Orsdel and Rebecca King as his parents, but my g-g-g-grandfather was named Lukas and his wife was Jenkey. The informant on the death certificate was Mrs. William A. Van Orsdel. I have found the cemetery record in v. 42 DAR records as well as Mills County Iowa Grave Stone Records. I have found he might possibly have married Sarah Clark on 26 May 1879 (DAR records.) I checked for Leah and have nothing. Sasha Stanley [email protected]
