Surname: VANARTSDALEN Emma had a younger brother, Edward [1861-1922]. Edward had a son, Monroe Fenton VanArtsdalen [April 9,1890-Feb.1950]. Monroe was my grandfather and his daughter, my mother remembers the family talking about Aunt Emma. We all grew up in Olney [correct spelling] which is a section of Philadelphia. In Olney is St.James Methodist Church. In the cemetery behind the church is a headstone with Edward and wife Catherine. Next to that stone is a headstone that reads : Jesse VanArtsdalen Jan.19,1819 - Aug.22,1886 Sidney his wife Nov.2,1823 - Mar.2,1907 I think the sexes have been swapped somehow. If Sidney was a male wouldn't Emma be Emma Loutz and not Emma VanArtsdalen? I hope this is of some help.
