Could someone please help this query and send a copy of the reply to this list? It is still *tax time* and I am very swamped ... Terri Rene (Thanks) -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Van Arsdalen Date: Sat, 17 Mar 2001 16:10:15 EST From: MAHEY@aol.com To: brianter@macatawa.org Dear Sir: I am writing in hopes you may assist me in tracing the descendants of Isaac Van Arsdalen and his wife, Margaretha Elizabeth Arnold. Isaac was christened 27 May 1770 in the Reformed Church at Conewago, York Co., PA. The record does not indicate the names of his parents. They may be John and Neltije (Peterson) Van Arsdalen. As shown by the York Co. census of 1800, Isaac had married prior to that year. The census record indicates one male 26 to 45, one female 26 to 45, and one female under 10. I have found no record of the family after this 1800 census record. Margaretha Elizabeth Arnold was the daughter of Peter and Margaretha Arnold of York Co. Peter came to Pennsylvania in 1751 from Germany. He first settled in the Montgomery/Berks Co. area, but in the 1760s purchased a farm in Warrington Township, York Co., where he died in 1795. All of his children and their spouses are named in his will, including daughter Margaretha Elizabeth and her husband, Isaac Van Arsdalen. Margareth Elizabeth may have been a bit older than Isaac, since she was christened in 1767, in the Lower Bermudian Union Church, York Co. (now Adams Co.) PA. She was confirmed in the same church in 1787. If you have any information that may shed light on the descendants of Isaac and Margaretha Elizabeth (Arnold) Van Arsdalen, I would be most grateful. I am descended from Peter Arnold through his son, George, a brother of Margaretha Elizabeth Arnold. Sincerely, John A. Mahey 6212 Spring Knoll Drive Harrisburg, PA 17111
