    3. Charles, Please forgive me for taking so long to say thank you for the outstanding way in which you featured the story about my gr-uncle, 1st Lieut. Robert Cornelius VanArsdale. It was quite a surprise to see our picture on the Vanguard cover and I will have to admit........rather a nice feeling. The ceremony in and of itself was impressive according to the feedback. I just happened to be the first person in our organization to have done this sort of thing and it has inspired a few more people to go ahead and do what they had been planning to "when they had time". You know how that goes. So if they needed a little inspiration....I suppose this service did it because two more people have ordered monuments. It is not an easy task but you know what they say: Anything worth doing is worth doing well and I will go further and add "not always easy either". And losing your life at a very young age has to be the worst. So no one should complain about a little work getting a program together. The cemetery was in the country and word gets around fast about a "happening" and people came out in droves and I am so happy that they did. I do hope that he (RCV) was looking down from above and saying........"God Bless Them All For Remembering". Our Vanguard is probably the best family genealogy publication I have ever seen and to do a good job takes time. I am sure you have helpers but I know it is your leadership that makes the difference. Again, thank you for doing what you do........so well. Cousin Lucy Lamar Blailock Swinney p.s. Sorry I had to reply on another Van's mail but my computer "crashed" about 2 months ago......and took all my e-mail addresses and "favorite" websites with it. I suppose by now we have all experienced that awful defrag-quick-restore thing. What a headache! My husband says if I would do that about every month or two, I would never have that problem. Charles, one more thing. Do you have extra copies of the December 2000 issues of the Vanguard? I would like to give my grand-daughters an issue and the UDC would like one to put in their archives and present one to the SCV in appreciation of their participation. If you have 6, I'll pay all the costs, etc. I would appreciate your letting me know......at your convenience. Lucy -----Original Message----- From: Charles R.
