    3. Donna, I Just looked at your note posted by Brian and Terre Rene and it has me somewhat excited. My John Vanasdal had a daughter named Caroline and one named Lucinda, which could have been after the name Lucien (I grasp at all straws). However, since your Rachel died in 1843, that puts a damper on things because the Rachel I found in the 1850 census was still alive. My John Vanasdal named his second son John Isaac, but his first son is a real puzzle. the first time I find him he's named Cozine, then Conidine, and is burried with the name Corridine. That just doesn't fit with the naming patterns. The Cozine and Conidine could, again, be the fault of the census taker, but the other records I have found do have Corridine. That could be a version of Cornelius, but I don't think people back then fractured up the names like we do now. 3. Barb - I know this Van family and I have most of the records. This Lucinda had a brother, John, b. 1814. Does that fit into your John timeframe? Lucinda and John also had a grandfather, John, born in the 1750s in Va/WVa. Sasha
