    3. Donald: According to Mai 'Noy Vanarsdall, long time resident of Harrodsburg, Kentucky and member of the Harrodsburg Historical Society, now deceased, there were originally eleven Vanarsdalen families who settled in Mercer County prior to 1800. Several families left the area, reducing that number to about seven or eight. Hundreds of families have descended from these and later arrivals to the area. My Vanarsdalen, Van Arsdall, Vanarsdall, Vanarsdell, Vannarsdall branches resided in Mercer County, Kentucky continuously from 1794-1926. I have many records of the Vanarsdalen family in Mercer Co., KY. In my marriage index [Vanarsdalls only] for the county they are nearly all grouped under the most common spelling of Vanarsdall. I have copies of the census records for all the Vanarsdall families of Mercer Co., KY for 1850 and 1860, and many earlier records. Give me some names and dates and I will see if I can find anything. No one has ever placed all the Vanarsdall familes who have ever lived in Mercer Co., KY to my knowledge. We are talking about a very large group of people. Our surname has always been very common in Mercer Co., KY since its origins in the 1780's. At one time I had hoped to place all the Vanarsdall familes in Mercer Co., KY. Perhaps this job is about half done, more or less. Are you related to Gordon Van Arsdale of California? I have his lines. In fact, he comes from my immediate family. If you have your family worked back to about 1850, there is a good chance I can place you, if you have not done so already. Van Arsdalen, aka: Cornelis A. Vanarsdall, removed to Salt River from New Jersey (1748-1840), son of Abraham Van Aersdalen (1708-1753), son of Cornelis Sijmonsen Van Aersdalen (1665-1745), son of the immigrant Sijmon Jansen Van Arsdalen (1627-1710) -----Original Message----- From: Donald Thos.
