Mark, Thank you so much for the "VAN" info below. I've never before had anyone send me so much detail, in the way of references......BLESS YOU! I'm fairly sure that my "VAN's" (Caleb and his father Cornelius) are in some of these references. I do think, however, that Caleb (at least), his wife Elizabeth (McCoy) VANORSDALL/VANARSDOL/VANANSDOL and their family (including my Harriet), had moved on to Champaign Co., OH, somewhere between 1830 and 1840. They had more children there. You've taught me some things. For one, I discovered some time ago about the NUMEROUS spelling variations of the VAN name, so I have been inserting JUST the VAN part when I've wanted to check out all (I thought) spelling variations. Now I've learned from you, to also check such spellings as "Phan....", and "Dan....." ! QUESTION: Didn't ALL of the VANS start out in NY, NJ, PA, then move on to other states, such as VA and KY? And if so, your KY ones are related to my VA/WV ones.....right? Thanks for all your help.....to me and others I've seen your postings to.
