To all the wonderful VAN researchers, I too, have lost Van's in New Jersey. Originally I thought I was descended from Simon, Jan, Christofel, John, Tunis but information from Charles Van Orsdale and Murial Horner as well as local church records (Dutch Ref.Ch. Dutchess Co. NY) lead me to believe I am descended from Simon, Cornelius Simonese, Dirck Cornelius,and then either a Cornelius (possibly a lost generation) or Dirck b.1745 and married to Marytje Vermilyea in 1767. Their son Derrick b.1777 is my GGGgrandfather and buried here in the Middlebush Cemetery, Dutchess Co. NY. Since we are hot on the trail of some lost relatives does anyone out there have any information that would help me varify Derrick's parentage. Is is Dirck or Tunis? We think there was an error in research in the 1940's that put Derrick and his brother Aaron (also bur. in the cemetery with his brother) as sons of Tunis VanArsdale of Montgomery, Orange Co. NY.
