Mark, Did receive the photos - thanks. I will return them with your issue of the Vanguard. I appreciate your hard work assembling the data for The Delta Project and, now that you have a new generation to observe (i.e. Jacob!), am thankful we have descendants from the various lines who have been providing info on their lineages as well to relieve you of some burden. As to the vacation in Holland, it was intended as R&R for the better half and me, but of course I did my homework before I left. Travel difficulties resulted in our losing a full day of Amsterdam exploration, and as we were with a tour group, we didn't have much flexibility to make up for lost time. HOWEVER, in a nutshell, I will say this: We did find the sites in Amsterdam where Sijmon Jansz van Aersdalen used to live (350 years ago), where he married, where his children were baptized, and where his Dutch wife and children were buried. A great deal of research went into finding the non-church related sites. However, I cannot adequately express the feeling I had as I walked through Sijmon's neighborhood, looked out over the river and canal he had to traverse, and stood at the spot where his family found their final resting place. Part of the area was little changed from his day. I was, at the same time, both excited and at peace, having reached my quest; but I can't help but wonder if Sijmon's presence wasn't watching over my shoulder. To me, it was a tremendous genealogical accomplishment and certainly the highlight of my vacation. And as a teaser, Sijmon's presence in Amsterdam at that spot and that point in time was coincident with a truly remarkable phenomenon uniquely Dutch; but you'll have to read The Vanguard to find out what that was! Best wishes to you, Aviva, and Jacob.
