Ginny: "Index To The 1820 Census Of Virginia," by Jeanne Robey Feldon, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore, 1976, P. 442 lists two men named Caleb Vanosdel in Greenbriar County, P. 84A of the census, and two men named Cornelius Vanasdol in Greenbriar County, P. 84 of the census. The spelling variations of the surname may or may not be significant. "Virginia 1830 Census Index," by Jackson, Teeples and Schaefermeyer, Accelerated Indexing Systems, Inc., Bountiful, Utah, P. 280 lists Caleb Vanansdale, Cornelius Vanansdale, Cornelius Vanansdale, Ju., and James Vanansdale, all in Greenbriar County, P. 205 of the census. I have found that the spelling of the surname in my own immediate family of Vanarsdalls in Mercer Co., KY changed in every census period, and also in different branches of my family. I have even seen spellings as diverse as Phanosdol and Danosdol. I look under everything beginning with the letter "V" and have found hundreds of spellings of the surname. "Virginia 1840 Census Index," by Jackson and Teeples, Accelerated Indexing Systems, Inc, Bountiful, Utah, P. 307, lists Margaret Vanarsdale in Greenbriar County, P. 204 of the census, and the same listing appears to be made under Vanorsdall. Most of the family appears to have left Greenbriar County, Virginia prior to 1840. I hope this helps to locate your Caleb a little better. The Virginia branches of the family are not as well known to me as New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania families.
