My ggg-grandmother was Harriet VANARSDOL (many spellings). She was born cir 1820/21 in VA/WV. She married John A. KENTON cir 1840 in Champaign Co., OH. Harriet and John moved to Jasper Co., IN, where all of their children were born. Their children were: Elizabeth (my line), b-1841, Minerva b-cir 1844, Caleb/Harvey b-cir 1847, and Franklin b-cir 1849. This family was still in Jasper Co., IN in the 1850 Census, but Harriet must have died cir 1859, because the next time I find this family, it's in Johnson Co., KS in the 1860 census, and there's no wife or mother.... Harriet is missing. John A. KENTON then remarries a Martha PARDEE (or PARDUE, etc.) cir 1862 and they have a large family together in Olathe, Johnson, KS. Some of their children's names were: Lewis, George, Simon, Ward, Marietta, Jasper. I've been able to locate some info on this family, but not anything on John's first wife, Harriet. I would be eternally grateful if someone on this "VAN" list could help me find something about my Harriet Vanarsdols' family. I think she had a brother named Hamilton, and "maybe" her father's name was Cornelius or Caleb. Also "maybe" her mother's name was Elizabeth McCOY.
