My John Vanarsdall had been married in 1848/49 to an Elizabeth Scott in Kentucky and is shown in Johnson County in 1870 with three children, 2 at home. This was obviously a 2nd marriage and I need to document the marriage which very likely occurred in Johnson County in either 1878/79. I need Elizabeth's previous married name and/or her maiden name. There is confusion over children's names and their relationship in this family and I hope the marriage information would help clarify whether she brought any children to this marriage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked with the Health Dept? Some of John's children must have died after 1882, and should have death certificates. Some time ago, I requested information from the Health Dept for quite a few of the VANs listed in the Johnson Co WPA death index, 1882-1920. What are the names of the children?
