1. Re: Fw: [VanArsdale-L] Nora Vanarsdale, KS b 1855
2. Thank You Charles Vanorsdale for the lead on the Vanarsdale's in my family, I have indeed connected the Vanarsdell's in the 1860 Cherokee County, TX Census, to the Vanasodall's (same people) on the 1875 Osage County, Kansas Census to my Vanarsdale's. Does anyone know where I can view a copy of the TX Census? My Kansas census shows the Vanasodall's from Kentucky and I show them from the Bedford Kentucky area but am not able to find any record. My records; Priestly Vanarsdale, Sr. born abt 1818 married Nancy ? Vanarsdale born abt 1835 Robert W Vanarsdale b abt 1852 Priestly Vanarsdale, Jr. born abt 1854 Nora Ann Vanarsdale b 10-29-1855, Bedford, KY Married Joseph Liston 10-16-1878 Garnett, Anderson County, KS (my great grandparents) Isham L Vanarsdale b abt 1852 Annie Vanarsdale b? Any help or advice appreciated. Thank You & Happy Hunting, R Withers please respond to rjw4038@aol.com

3. This was on a list we subscribe to. I have looked at the pages discussed and agree that this will be a valuable tool .... it only takes OUR commitment to sharing. Please take a minute to look at the "blurbs" you accidentally copied when xeroxing obituaries & consider posting them on these pages. Anything printed before 1926 shouldn't be effected by a current copyright. Terri Rene -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Newspaper Abstracts Home Page This is in it's infancy. This is a chance to rally and get it off to a great start. Send off all those little tidbits attached to your obits and the obits themselves. Even if you don't, this will eventually be a great site, so save it and go back often. Click here: Newspaper Abstracts Home Page Welcome to the home of Newspaper Abstracts The official web site for the Newspaper Abstracts mailing list. The mail list and this site are available for the posting of genealogy-related newspaper abstracts from any newspaper in the United States. Submissions will be posted to this site under the appropriate state and county links. Newspapers are a wonderful and often overlooked resource for those researching their families. Many fascinating and descriptive details can be found about the lives our ancestors from the businesses they frequented to the hardships they endured while trying to build a new life in a new land. Even letters home from men at war detailing their daily accounts were occasionally printed for all to read. Over the years many records were lost or destroyed in fires, floods and natural disasters. Newspapers include notations on births, illnesses and deaths that occurred before local and state governments began keeping records. Other items such as tax rolls, local military rosters, court notifications in chancery and probate, separations and divorces are also given mention. Many newspapers managed to survive the test of time and can now be found at most state libraries on microfilm and are available thru inter-library loan for viewing at your local library. For more information contact the newspaper microfilm department for the state you are interested in at United States Newspaper Project Web Sites. Sites.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How do I join newspaper abstracts? To join the newspaper abstracts mail list click here and in the body of the message write only the word subscribe. How do I submit newspaper abstracts? To submit newspaper abstracts send an email to: Newspaper-Abstracts-L@rootsweb.com What type of submissions are acceptable? Any newspaper items that include names of individuals, details on the community, etc. are all acceptable items. At this time I am restricting the uploads on this site to newspapers dated before 1923 to avoid any copyright issues. What should I include in my submission? All submissions of newspaper abstracts must include the following: Full name, date, city, county and state of newspaper and the submitters first and last name and of course the article you are submitting. For ease of uploading to the proper page, please limit each submission to one month/year. (ie. June 1847 in one mail and August 1847 in another)

2. I have a picture talken of my great-great grandfather and g-g-grandmother, Thomas Jefferson VanArsdale and Mary Helen Nooe VanArsdale and their 13 children, taken in the late 1880's. This copy was given to me by a cousin, but if you are interested I will contact him to be sure that it would be all right. Since I felt that the subscription to the newsletter was a little expensive, I am not a subscriber anymore, but I'll be glad to share. I have some other individual portraits, also.
