Posted on: Biographies of Van Arsdale & Related Families Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/VanArsdaleBios?read=104 Surname: Vanausdal ------------------------- There is a Rachel listed in a crazy manner in the Licking Co., OH, 1850 census who could be the Rachel above. I say it's a crazy manner because there is a John Vanausdal (think that is the spelling that was used) and his wife, whose name isn't at all legible, listed at the bottom of one page, then going to the next page there is a Rachel listed with no surname, but the dwelling doesn't seem to be the same one as John's. From what I can make out on the very poor census film, Rachel would have been born about 1786, but it's very hard to read and could be a different year. She was born in VA. With her is a Mikel, about 25 yrs. old, and again no surname. I have been trying to figure out who those people are for years because it could be a badly needed clue. If someone can figure it out, I sure would like to hear from them.

    3. Amos, I saw your message via the VanArsdale-L website, etc. Which CORNELIUS are you related to? My gr.-gr.-grandfather was Lucas Cornelius VanArsdale, born 1807 in Kentucky.....the relocated to Mississippi. There are so many Corneliuses.......just thought I'd inquire. Thanks, L. 3. Mark and all, I have been researching my wife's Van Asdlan family. As part of the ongoing research, I have been told that she is descended from Jan Van Aerts Daalen, through Simon Jansz Van Aerts Daalen (1629 - 1710), Cornelius Simonsz Van Aersdalen (1662 - 1745), Jan 'John' Vanarsdalen (1696 - 1750), Johannes Van Asdlen (1731 - 1772), Issac Vanarsdlen (1770 - 1839), John Van Asdlan (b 1802), John Van Asdlan, Jr. (1875-1912), John Van Asdlan III (1875 - 1957) and her father Earl Van Asdlan (1902 - 1965). Most of these people lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania until about 1927 when John III and Earl moved to Tucson, Arizona. I have a Jannetje "Jane" Baird (1753-1800) shown in the line and believe that although the spellings may be different they are probably the same people and that the Jan 'John' Vanarsdalen in my wife's line and the Abraham Vanarsdall listed in your post were brothers. I would be interested in comparing notes on the family. Another part of your post that intrigues me is the connection to Mercer County, Kentucky. That is near the area, Perryville, Boyle County, Kentucky, where my Stigall and Broyles lines have been centered for the last 100 to 150 years. Are there any connections to these lines in your research? As of today (05 April 2000) all messages posted to the Van Arsdale GenConnect Boards will automatically be posted to the mailing list. There are other forms of Junk Mail, such as "fishing expeditions", i.e.: 'looking for all Van Arsdales ever born in any place at any time' .... But I think that the value of receiving the information contained in most postings will far out-weigh the down side of needing to use the delete button more often. If you are on this list & are currently subscribed to the GenConnect Boards, you will receive duplicates of the postings ... and may want to avoid this by unsubscribing from the GenConnect Board <grin>. If you are new to this list, please be aware that there are several GenConnect Boards available and can be accessed from <http://www.macatawa.org/~brianter/vanarsdaledocuments.htm>. 1. [VanArsdale-L] [Fwd: VanArsdall-Wykoff] --- Can anyone help this cousin?
    2. Brian & Terri Rene Howard
    3. I was just at Rootsweb and it said the parents of Cornelius C. Vanarsdall (b. 1766 in New Jersey and d 1866 in Mercer Co. Ky.) were Knut and Ingeborg and the spouse Margrete is that correct. We are looking for where Cornelius was born and his parents. We have reached a brick wall. My husband is the VanAusdall line from Cornelius and I am from the Wykoff family. Thanks. 2. Dear Peg, I meant to respond to your post but failed to do so until now. I just wanted to welcome you to the little group that is looking for the same information. I have nothing to share unless you need some information on Cynthia. Did you get any responses? If you did, I missed them. What is your connection to Cornelius. My cousin (we are descended from Cornelius O. and Cornelius A.) is married to a descendent of this Cornelius. We are anxiously seeking info that will give us his connection to the rest of us. I would love to hear from you.
