    1. Simon Van Arsdale
    2. Alvie L. Davidson
    3. Looking for a family of Simon Van Arsdale born just after 1800 in NYC, I think. His wife is named Elizabeth and they supposedly had a son named Williah H. Van Arsdale. In 1850 Simon was deceased and widow Elizabeth was living in same household as William. He was a police officer. Anyone recognize this family?> -- Alvie L. 1. Symon Jansen Van Aersdale
    2. Irene S. Kauffmann
    3. I'm a descendant of Symon Jansen VanAersdale and Pieterje Claesen Wyckoff, residents of the Flatlands, Long Island in the late 1600's. I suppose they are the earliest members of the clan in this country. I haven't done much research on this couple, and was wondering if anyone has any good biographical data on them. Anything would be appreciated! [email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------ Irene S. Kauffmann [email protected]

    1. Dr. Peter VanArsdale of NYC
    2. Alvie L. Davidson
    3. Dear Friends, Some additional information which might help you help me. Dr. Peter VanArsdale was a physician in NYC until he died about 1858-9 while living in NY County. His widow was still living there in 1860 Census in NYC with a personal worth of $40,000. Along with her was an apparent son Peter B. VanArsdale, age 23 and they had a servant and coachman in the household. Seems they were not among the poorer folks of the neighborhood. Also they had a son William H. VanArsdale who was born about 1815 and he moved away after he married in 1858. Looking for something to tell me about Dr. Peter VanArsdale the physician. Any help is appreciated. -- Alvie L. 1. VANARTSDALEN info sought
    2. Howard
    3. Thanks to all of you who responded to my original question about interest in the variant spelling - VANARTSDALEN. I have one definite connection, through the husbands, with this surname (Mary), and another possible connection (Cornelia), as shown below. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can add to my information. I'm especially looking for the baptismal or birthdate information for Cornelia's son Joseph and all ancestors of Simon and Elce. Mary VANARTSDALEN - baptised - 18 Jun 1775 married Joseph Fenton - 25 May 1795 died - 29 Apr 1861 Cornelia VANARTSDALEN - born c. 1750 married Jacob Vandegrift - 27 Dec 1775 died - 31 Jan 1831 Both Mary and Cornelia were daughters of Simon and Elce VANARTSDALEN and were baptised in the North and Southampton Reformed Church in Bucks County, PA, USA.
