If you are sent ALL the information that the VanArsdall's-le'-Osdell's, etc. have on this list, I'm afraid your computer would go up in smoke. Hi, Virginia - I worked on this Van family about 20 years ago with a descendant from Roanoke IN named Rosemary Bentz. I corresponded with her for quite awhile and then she never answered again - I know another lady was corresponding with her, too, and she never heard from her again, either. Are you sure of the birth date? I have that she was born 11 March 1823. I know nothing else about Jane but I do know some things about the other children, if you need it. This is not my Van line but I'll try to answer a question if you have it. Sasha Stanley [email protected]

Thanks, Arleen Hi Arlene: I am thrilled to hear from you via VanArsdale rootsweb!! You are definitely related to my husband!!! His line comes down the same way as far as Robert. Then he descends from one of Robert and Mary Baker VANARSDALE's daughter, Eliza. (At that point most documentation spells the name with the "R" in it. ) I know that Robert also had a sister named Octavia Ingle VANARSDALE, which would have been Cornelius' aunt, whom he obviously named his daughter after. Just this weekend I began working on what happened to the other children of Robert, since I only know what happened to Eliza. I was especially interested in Cornelius, since I believe he is the only son of Robert and I knew he died in western Kansas. (We live in Prairie Village, KS, a suburb of Kansas City.) Eliza (Cornelius' sister) married T.C. Winterbower and they had at least 4 daughters, M. Elizabeth about 1870, Hattie B. about 1874, Margaret Octavia about 1876 and Samira A. about 1878. These children were all raised in Ashland, MO (between Columbia and Jefferson City). Margaret Octavia is my mother-in-law's paternal grandmother. Margaret Octavia married William Thomas NICHOLS in Ashland MO and they had a son named Gilbert Winterbower NICHOLS born in 1907, who is my mother-in-law's father. He moved to Kansas City and married Lillian Lenora JARBOE and they had my mother-in-law, Nancy Louise NICHOLS in 1930. She married John William AULD in Kansas City and had my husband, Seth Hamilton AULD. He was raised in Leawood, KS, a suburb of Kansas City and we were married in 1986 and have one son, Seth Hamilton Auld, Jr born in 1988. Hope this message didn't get too confusing. You may e-mail me at the following e-mail address: [email protected] and let me know where you fit into this picture. Are you a daughter of Octavia? And where do you live? Look forward to hearing from you soon. Be glad to share and hopefully get more info from you on your family. You'll find it spelled umpteen different ways. Not too many literate people back then, so the person doing the writing spelled the name the way it sounded. Way back when, the spelling was VanArtsdallen with some minor variations. Lots of friendly "cousins" out there researching VanA. I don't have your particular line, but let me know if you don't hear from our cousins and I'll send you what I have going back to about 1400. Virginia [email protected]

    2. Does anyone have a record of Howard. He is buried in the same cemetary as my great grand daddy Isaac. Howard Y is buried with Clara C 1889-1938. I found them while wandering through the small cemetary this past weekend. -- Linda Wright [email protected] [email protected] www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/3157
