    3. Radford has been an independent city since 1892. Radford area records prior to that can be found in Christiansburg the county seat of Montgomery Co. VA Got this off the Radford city website on VaGenWeb site online -----Original Message----- >From: pmbailey2@earthlink.net >Sent: Mar 19, 2006 9:16 PM >To: VAPULASK-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [VAPULASK] Re: Pittsylvania City or Pittsylvania Courthouse in Pulaski County > >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2BC.2ACI/915.1.1.1.1 > >Message Board Post: > >Bill, > >Interesting information about Radford now being an independent city, and apparently not in any county. Another responder wrote me saying that Radford was in Montgomery County. ??? > >So I really don't know which county it is in, or if it is an independent city within no county. I was basing my original statement of it being in Pulaski County on the Virginia roadmap that I have, which seems to show it there. > >Regardless of which county (if any) Radford is now in, my grandmother's genealogical records indicate that Berger's Store was located near Radford, and Radford is not near Pittsylvania County now nor was it back in the 1860s. In addition, the postmarks of the letters are all Dublin, which is also quite near Radford, and also not at all near Pittsylvania County. > >Can you shed any further light on this matter based on these facts? > >Many thanks, > >Mike Bailey > > > >==== VAPULASK Mailing List ==== >Visit the Pulaski County VAGenWeb page: >http://www.rootsweb.com/~vapulask/ >
