The Virginia State Library in Richmond, VA has Montgomery County death records from 1853 thru part of 1896. I believe the LDS libraries may also have these records on microfilm. Keep in mind that these records are not complete, so even if someone died between those years, there is no guarantee that there will be a record. There are no birth/death records for the years mid-1896 thru 1912. There was no law requiring VA counties to keep those records for those years, so most did not. Also keep in mind that the writing on some pages on these microfilm reels is so faint it's impossible to read. mike
