Hi, I was poking around in the Montgomery County Corthouse last Christmas and I saw a very ragged book. Inside a handsown cover were handwritten tax lists from very early on. It seems to me they were from sometime in the 1770's till the 1790's. Some of the sheets were large and some small. Some were more worn than others. These were all wrangled together into a cover about 8x14 inches. They were house-to-house lists and the assessor's names were written on the pages. Maybe this will help.
