I am researching LINDSEY / MYERS (MARRS, MIRES, MOYERS) / BRECKENRIDGE / DOAK who were or may have been in Montgomery County circa 1784 - 1796 (or possibly till 1812). I have found, with the help of this list, my gggg grandfather Moses LINDSEY m Leticia BRECKENRIDGE Sep 27, 1785 in Montgomery Co. They owned land on Walkers Creek, and Moses LINDESEY between 1784 and 1796. Moses was appointed overseer of the road by Montgomery Co. Court in 1786. I believe, but would like to prove, that this Moses LINDSEY is the same as the Moses LINDSEY who owned property in Washington Co. VA on the South Holston from 1789 until his death prior to 1812, when his heirs sold some of the land. I would like to know more about his birth, death and where buried. I do not know his parents. Likely they are Scots/Irish >PA> Augusta Co. VA>Montgomery Co. VA > Washington Co. VA. I have more on Leticia BRECKENRIDGE, parents are George BRECKENRIDGE and Ann DOAK. I would like to hear from anyone else relating. Children of Moses LINDSEY Sr. (who owned property in Washington Co. VA) are: Isaac LINDSEY m. Polly ? Moses Jr. LINDSEY m. Catherine MIRES 1813 Washington Co. VA Polly (Mary?) LINDSEY m. Obadiah NEEL Elizabeth LINDSEY m. Thomas H. JOHNSON lived in Johnson Co. TN up to Civil War times. (likely also, not proven) John LINDSEY m. Elizabeth RAMBO 1813 Washington Co. VA., volunteered for War of 1812, died of disease Norfolk VA 1814. Moses Jr. and Catherine MIRES/ MYERS are my line. I would dearly like to find her parents. She is German ancestry, and latest lead is that she may be the daughter of Peter and Catherine MOYERS, and may be the Catherina baptized at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Rural Retreat, Montgomery>Wythe Co. on Apr 6, 1797 - born Oct 1796 possibly in NC or VA. I found this from: http://www.naxs.com/people/cameron/PAULBP.HTM Curious is the fact that there are both LINDSEY and MYERS born between 1845 and 1890 buried at this church. See: http://www.naxs.com/people/cameron/PAULCEM.HTM I would like to hear from anyone who may descend from these Lindseys or Myers. Burial records. St Pauls, Rural Retreat, Wythe Co. VA LINDSEY, HENRY LEE May 27 1845 Feb 14 1910 LINDSEY, MARGARET ELIZABETH Feb 22 1843 Sep 20 1862 LINDSEY, MARY E. Feb 29 1848 Jan 14 1896 LINDSEY, VIOLA Jul 02 1871 Sep 21 1950 LINDSEY, WILLIAM T. Sep 26 1837 Jul 11 1862 MYERS, JOHN WILLIAM Dec 26 1866 Jul 05 1942 MYERS, JULIA ANN Feb 05 1867 Sep 04 1948 Wife of J. W. MYERS, SHALIA M. Sep 20 1890 Feb 24 1963 I would like to know the history of the churches in the Walkers Creek area, if there is anyone out there knowledgeable. German Lutheran or Scots/Irish Presbyterian, from 1770s to 1800. Family legend has it that Catherine MIRES was an indentured servant on the Moses LINDSEY farm (which could have been either Walkers Creek (present day Bland/Giles Co, or South Holston River -Washington VA ). Moses Jr. and Catherine were married in Oct 1813 in Washington Co. VA, and their son David, my gg grandfather, was born in 1813, which when counting the gestation months, leads one to believe the wedding was of the shot gun variety.
