    3. The following has been extracted from my book "Descendants of Daniel and Mary Spangler, Franklin county, VA 1773" Jack Spangler Ellicott City, MD 1. Daniel Spangler born 1716 ca, died Nov. 3, 1787. Legend says Daniel was in failing health and died suddenly while serving on jury duty in Franklin County, Va. It is said that he is buried in PIGG RIVER PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY located five miles south of Calloway, Va. on State Route 750 between State Routes 751 and 640. No marker is known to exist. Married Mary Nofsinger (Naufsinger, Notsinger, Nofzgar), born 1720, died 1818. Headstone (field stone) inscription reads MARY SPANGLER DIED 1820 Age 100 yrs. (Her will was probated in Montgomery County, Va. Jun. 18, 1818) Buried PINE CREEK CHURCH CEMETERY, Floyd County, Va. PINE CREEK CHURCH CEMETERY is located approximately 1 1/2 miles west of US Route 221 on Spangler’s Mill road (State Route 682) in Floyd, County, Va. Mary was one of the first Spanglers in Floyd County, Va. Her maiden name of Nofsinger is legend not yet documented.. WHEREAS many inconveniences and dangers, amounting to an almost total deprivation of the invaluable right of suffrage to the people residing on the south side of the Pilot mountain, and third battalion of militia in the County of Montgomery, have been long experienced by the freeholders and electors, in crossing the said mountain, and also Little river which is frequently so high at the time of holding elections, that it is with great difficulty and danger that those people are enabled to attend the elections; therefore, for the purpose of remedying the said inconveniences and dangers, and of securing to them a free exercise of the right of suffrage: BE it enacted by the General Assembly, That, on the Thursday after the first Tuesday in April in each year, an election shall be held at the house of Daniel Spangler, on the south side or the Pilot Mountain, in the third battalion in the County of Montgomery, to choose representatives to represent that County in the General assembly or in Congress, as heretofore at the courthouse of the said County of Montgomery, or as may be prescribed by law. 1.1.8 David P. Peter Bowman born Mar. 12, 1822, died Feb 21, 1905. He was the son of Christian Bowman and Hannah Rineheart. Peter and Sarah Bowman are both buried in RED OAK GROVE CEMETERY, Floyd, Va. He was born Aug. 1835 Botetourt Co., Va. and died Feb. 4, 1862 Floyd Co., Va. of diphtheria. In the 1850 census Mary was with her sister Sarah Ann and Peter. Children: (1) Jacob H. Starr on Nov. 23, 1882 in Floyd Co., Va. He was born Jun. 24, 1857 in Floyd Co., died Sep. 23, 1930, buried same cemetery. He was a son of Jonathan Starr and Zelpha or Zelphy Hylton. 1.1.8.B.3 Peter G. Bowman born Oct. 12, 1861. Married Sallie E. Alley on Oct 30, 1884 in Floyd Co. Married H. O. Pugh, lived in Roanoke. 1.1.8.B.3.5 Samuel E. Bowman born Aug. 1895, died Dec. 18, 1981, Albuquerque, NM. THE FLOYD PRESS January 14, 1982 SAMUEL E. BOWMAN ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO -Samuel E. Bowman, age 88, formerly of Floyd County died December 18, 1981, in Albuquerque. He was a son of the late Peter G. Bowmen and Sallie E. Bowmen of the Camp Creek vicinity. Survivors include: his wife, Dora W. Bowman; one sister Mrs. H. O. Pugh of Roanoke; three brothers, Clarence Bowman.and Harry Bowmen both of Roanoke, and Hugh Bowman of Floyd. He was a veteran of World War 1 and a member of the Methodist church.
