    1. [VAMONTGO] MURDOCK Cemetery, removal and re-interment at Radford, 1988

    3. Good morning folks, Three monuments stand in the Radford Cemetery, one of which reads "On this site are buried members of the Murdock Family. They were placed here following removal from the family cemetery in Montgomery Co. Virginia, on August 30, 1988" Now the questions start! Does anyone here... - know who was buried in the original cemetery site? - know where the original cemetery site was? - have any knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the removal and re-burial? - know if a newspaper account of the removal was published, or know how might we check for something? - know if County approval would have been necessary to move the remains? If so, how might we go about obtaining records filed with and by the County? The two other stones memorialize John Audrey Murdock, 1912 - 1979; and Mossie L. Murdock, 1915 - 1991. Does anyone recall these recent residents of Radford? We're eager to find out who might have been buried in the original Murdock Cemetery. So far we know of only one person who was buried there (from a Death Certificate) - John Brown. Speculation is that Elijah Murdock and his wife Polly [nee Dallis] and some of their descendants were possibly buried there. Elijah arrived in Montgomery County in the mid to late 1830's, and married Louisa Brown after Polly died. All help greatly appreciated.
