it's very unlikely that you would find a local (Montg. Co) newspaper from that era. The VA tech library has nothing that covers those years, and the News Messenger offices will only refer you to VA Tech. The Library of VA in Richmond has Montg. County death records on microfilm for the years 1880-1892. Not all deaths are included. Might be worth a shot. mike
