Phoebe, In 1880 Berdine Akers on census in Montgomery county, VA with parents Daniel and Ellen Akers. Berdine's brothers listed are Albert, Sparrell and sister listed is Andelia. It appears from census records that Daniel may be the son of William and Lydia Akers. I have copies of the 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1910 census images if you'd like copies of them.
