SUMTER, aged 73, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. A. MANNONI, here this morning. He was a Confederate veteran, and the oldest employe on the Norfolk and Western Railway at the time of his resignation to become secretary of the railroad commission. He later represented this county in the legislature.
