Hi! I just checked your list and my gr grandfather Jesse Ratcliffe isn't tin your list. I do have a bad copy of his birth certificate that says he was buried at the Fair View Home, where he had been for at least two years. It is near the Volvo truck plant and Pulaski Co High School that are on the same road, Cougar Trail Rd. I have no idea how many people were buried there, a cousin once tried to find the site but there are no stones, and she didn't check with anyone inside. We plan to do that one day. Wanna hear something really SAD? I grew up in Pulaski Co, and never knew he was buried there until a couple of years ago, and never even knew my grandparents until I was 12.... Your list is such a nice one, thank you for all your hard work to put that together. I am sure many who benefit from it will be grateful even if they never say so. Joanne
Joanne; Just a little bit of history for you on the Fairview Home and the cemetery connected to it. Up until about 1949 the Fairview Home was the County Poor House for Pulaski, Smyth, Wythe, Giles and Roanoke Counties. It is now a private residence. The cemetery is located on the same side of the street further up the road but we have been unable to locate it since the new development went in. Before 1925 the Poorhouse was located in Snowville; http://www.rootsweb.com/~vapulask/poorhouse/index.html I'm looking through the records that I have to see if your great Grandfather is among them and will let you know if I locate anything.
