The only info I have is that she was born about 1801, and married Jan. 7, 1820 in Montgomery County. If you have her in your files, I can give you info on her descendents.
Can someone give me the exact marriage date in 1815 in Montgomery County of James T. Lester and Cloatey Ann Wilson. I had the exact date tried to merge two files of James T. and Chloe and the exact marriage date disappeared. Thanks for your help. Carlisle

There are 3 books of Fincastle County Courthouse records in Montgomery County courthouse, that are very fragile. While I have not viewed all 129 rolls of the draper manuscripts, the few that I have looked at are handwritten notes and memories, as far as I could tell the 3 books were not filmed in these notes. I don't see any problem in him taking notes in Montgomery or any other county for that matter. The Manuscripts are available on film and can be requested on inter-library Loan to your library (with a film reader) of coarse. I requested 5 rolls sometime ago. I did not copy any of the pages, as I did not see copies of the "Courthouse Records" that everyone leads us to believe that Mr Draper has in notes. The Draper Manuscripts are pretty wonderful. Before you order them, I would look around to make sure that they are not already available someplace close to you. Our Marshall University Special Collections has the microfilmed edition in Huntington, WV. I have used it on occasion. I dream of spending many hours reading some of it. It is not easy to read. And as any time one is reading someone's notes, it is not always entirely clear. But all in all I find it wonderful. I bought the guide to have on hand from the Wisconsin Historical Society....well I am using the name mentioned below....I am not sure exactly from whom in Wisconsin I bought it, but I could look it up if anyone is really interested. I am pretty sure that it is most likely available through the LDS FHL system. I could also check that if anyone is interested. That makes them inaccessible to people like myself, who had many ancestors coming through that area. The fact that the University has them on microfilm doesn't help me because I can't access that microfilm. While I might be able to travel as far as Christianburg, there is no possibility of traveling to Wisconsin to try to see the records. And yes, I realize there are published documents, but those documents are also in Wisconsin, with not a clue as to what information is in them available for Virginians.

Has there ever been a move to try to get these records returned to Virginia? What are they doing in the possession of another state, especially one so far away that we, who have missing Virginia ancestors, can't access those records?
I can't tell you who her father is, but it is not Freeburn Hall. Freeburn had 12 children according to his will. All are accounted for, no Martha. That might at least help you narrow your search a bit. mike

Hall b about 1826 who married Robert Smith and can be found in Montgomery County, Alleghany Springs in the 1860 census. I would like to see the 1850 census of them and Floyd Smith(perhaps with his parents). I believe Martha A. Hall is probably the daughter of John Hall, Freeborn Hall or Charles Hall, all of whom are listed in Alleghany Springs in 1860 and are old enough to be Martha's father.
