New to List, Ephriam Skiles Jr. moved to Montgomery Co. from Maryland in the late 1700s. On 1 Aug 1797, the Montgomery County, Va., court named Richard Guthrie guardian of Phebe and Elizabeth, and stated that Ephraim had died. Daniel Howe was security for the guardianship. I have Joseph Skiles in Montgomery Co.: --Marrying Mary Polly Burton Anderson, widow of George Anderson in 1818. --!820 Census --1830 Census --Witnessing the will/probate Mary Guthrie Skiles Scott'shusband in 1809 --1840 Census in Pope County Illinois The Anderson and Skiles offspring migrated to Pope County Illinois in the 1840/1850s. Trying to find information to prove that Joseph is the son of Ephraim Skiles Jr. and that Joseph, Jacob, and David Skiles of Pope county.are the sons of Joseph. Any help??? Bests, Glenn

I am very happy at the overwhelming response in reference to the new Master Burial listing that I am working on. So many people have asked so this is how I think it will work---just like the one on the Pulaski Cty, Va site and it has 21,000 burials strong and still going.... The first 1-3 days of every month, I will send Tami-the list administrator--the new and most up to date listing. Usually within the first week of each month, the updated list will appear on the website. She usually tells me when this is completed. I will send you an e-mail to this effect. This list will NEVER be 100% complete. Feel free to send me any and all burials that you know as a fact that are physically buried in either Montgomery or Pulaski Cty, VA. Please do not be speculative as we want this list to be as factual as possible for our future generations to enjoy and hopefully not deep as deep and long as we have to find our ancestors. I hope that you will check the list every month because I will always update and correct any and all errors, mistakes, and omissions. Example: adding a middle name or perhaps a maiden name or even a complete birth/death date. It is so much easier to piece together families when they are listed together and alphabetical--not on 43,454,567 different listings. I will be sending the first listing to Tami this Sunday 10/01/2006 and hope to have the first 1000 names ready for her to put on the website. Joanne; Just a little bit of history for you on the Fairview Home and the cemetery connected to it. Up until about 1949 the Fairview Home was the County Poor House for Pulaski, Smyth, Wythe, Giles and Roanoke Counties. It is now a private residence. The cemetery is located on the same side of the street further up the road but we have been unable to locate it since the new development went in. There is no visible graveyard there but a relative of mine was buried there after he died.
