I have some info on Elijah, his children and where he died, but no proven place or date of marriage to Susannah. I'd be willing to be that the marriage was either Botetourt or Augusta registered or Fincastle County Seat Registered, as these were earlier, settled versions of the "to become in 1776-77" Montgomery County. see http://www.rootsweb.com/~vagenweb/county2.htm also see http://www.rootsweb.com/~vagenweb/ for early maps. Based on this map I wouldn't rule out marriage having occurred in Bedford County, Va. which is neighboring Botetourt at the 1770ish time frame. As a side note - the Howells have early investment in Land records in Botetourt in the 1770-'s and 1780's. from "Early Settlers of Floyd County" "1772 - Elijah Hylton - Fought under Washington in Revolutionary War (other Hyltons had settled in (what was to become) Floyd earlier ???) Had oldest house in county - built before the Revolutionary War. On 1790 tax list Indian Valley Section next to Moser Dickerson. dau. Eliz. m. Henry Hylton 1/3/1792. Elijah & David Howell in partnership. Will made 9/8/1798. Son Geo. m. Martha Hill 1785. dau. m. D. Howell. On Capt. Eason's tax list in Mont. Co. in 1783." I descend from his grand daugther Nancy Howell, daughter of Elijah's child Susannah and the David Howell shown above. They were married in Montgomery in 1808. Through researching Hyltons, I have come to believe that approximate birth date for Susannah, mother of my Nancy Howell, daughter of the subject Elijah Hylton, was born about 1770 - before Montgomery was "discovered" and legal. There is some indication that Lucy Hylton, sister of Susannah and yet another daughter of Elijah and wife Susannah was born about 1766 - so this would indicate the marriage as technically having been performed in some county other than Montggomery. from webesite: http://home.earthlink.net/~wwwizard/land_records.htm GRANTEE Hylton, Elijah. grantee. Also did a DNA test and found a very strong connection with a McDonald descendant from this area. I'd like to connect with a male McDonald descendant of Bryan McDonald of this area (from Ireland/Scotland) who has done the y-chromosome test if at all possible, so that I can either rule in or rule out that family in the search for ancestry. Alternatively, anyone who knows of any male Bryan descendants who 'disappeared' from the published records in one way or another, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks Dan McDonald

I am seeking to find definite info that will put my family in the colonies before the Revolution. I was told that Samuel Jones married Celia Creech in Montgomery Co, Va, in or about 1760's. I will try your suggestions. A family member--Scott Jones of MD, wrote a booklet on the Joneses and this is what he stated. Again, thanks. Lana Jones Moore, Ironton, OH
Hello I was in Ironto yesterday and there is not a lot there. I was able to find a grave sight and church named after my family and I do have some contact people who have lived there all their lives. But to answer your question yes Ironto is in Montgomery County Va. If you are researching you may want to look into Floyd County and Radford. All of this at one time was together. Charlie Hall

Surnames: Dillon Walters Hall Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/yAC.2ACE/1040 Message Board Post: I am trying to determine who the parents of Mary Elizabeth Dillon Walters (born 1829) are. In 1850, she is living with John Walters in Montgomery County. She and John were not married until a few years later. In 1850 she is still using the last name Dillon. There are three children living with John and Mary - all with the last name Dillon. (Virginia, Victoria and an infant with no name). Also living in Montgomery County is a family headed by Sarah Dillon (born 1805). Living with her are her sons James, Joseph, Thomas and daughters Sarah and Rebecca. Does anyone have info on Mary Dillon? Was she born a Dillon and have three children before she was married to John Walters? Or was she born to a different family and married into the Dillon family?
Please be assured that no matter whether you are at the Stonewall Church or not, Our Munificent Heavenly Father will know Each and Every Prayer uttered for Barbara and he does not need a calculator to count the numbers nor a hearing aid to HEAR a PRAYER---While the strength of those in the circle of attendance may be superb, the strength of the circle joining every thought and prayer for Barbara will make the present group that much stronger. While it may be our prayer to HEAL Barbara, but if HE has other plans We Will Accept but no amount of prayer will change HIS WILL for as are but HIS CHILDREN and none of us are Promised a Tomorrow, though it is our hope and desire that there be a Tomorrow, when our time comes to join that innumerable caravan into the GLORY and BEAUTY of HIS PRESENCE where all will be WHOLE and WELL again, we serve only at His Desire. My prayer too is for healing but if that is not in the cards for Barbara, I pray that she rests comfortably and know that She is in His HANDS and ARMS--- Love and Blessings to All, Carlisle Bowling
