Hi List Looking for info about my GGGgrand father Adam Gearhart who first appears on my horizon in 1783. He is documented then on the tax list for Montgomery Co..He was born in the 1750's and died in Floyd Co.,Ky in the 1830's. Married by most accounts to Margaret Justice. He was appointed constable in 1787 in Capt. Doaks company and appointed the same in 1791 in Wythe Co. He appears to have lived in the Rich Valley area which must be north of Walkers Mtn in present day Bland Co..He and his family and another Gearhart by the name of John, who seems to be kin, came to Floyd Co.,Ky in 1804-6 time frame. John was bn in the late 1760's by census accounts. His wife was Katharina--possibly Mott/Maught. Childrens names--Catherine,John,Adam,Joseph,Mary,Elizabeth,William to name a few. I'm researching William Moore b abt 1786. Lived near the county line between Franklin Co and Floyd Co before and after Floyd was formed from Montgomery. I'm trying to figure out who his father was. May have been Jesse Moore or Abraham Moore. Also researching Elizabeth Shue who married Wilson Moore (son of William) in 1834 in Franklin County. Her parents were probably Joseph and Elizabeth Schuh, who had several children baptised at Zion Lutheran Church in Montgomery Co (later Floyd). The elder John Kirk was married to Rebecca Rose, daughter of Obadiah Rose. The younger John Kirk was living in Knox Co., TN after about 1805, and later moved to Indiana. The John Kirk b. 1781 married Eva Nosler/Nausler b. 1770/1780 probably in Montgomery Co. Eva's brother Boston Nosler Jr. married Sarah Kirk, daughter of the elder John Kirk, in Montgomery Co. 4 Jan 1802. Eva Nosler's sister Sophia "Soveney" Nosler married Andrew/Andreas Kissinger 18 Jan 1785 in Montgomery Co. The Kissinger/Kessinger family resided in Montgomery Co. and in Giles Co. to the present day. I am researching the Josiah Ramsey family of Augusta, Botetourt, Fincastle, Montgomery and Wythe Counties, VA. He married Elizabeth (last name unknown). He was in the French and Indian War, and Dunmore's War. His will written 1805 in Wythe County, VA named these children: Daughter Sarah Stephens and granddaughter Sally Rich; Son Thomas Ramsey and grandson Josiah Ramsey; Daughter Hannah Davis; Daughter Phebe Montgomery; Daughter Sally Moor; Sons Joseph Ramsey and William Ramsey. Josiah Ramsey died in Wythe County, VA in 1811. I am especially interested in Thomas Ramsey who was deceased at the time of the writing of his father's will in 1805. The latter apparently contributed in 1872/73. 1790 - Patrick County, Virginia formed from Henry County. Legislative enactment in 1790. Organized in 1791. 1776 - Henry County Virginia formed from Pittsylvania and Patrick Counties. Legislative enactment in 1776. Organized in 1777. Patrick County gave only a small portion in 1857/58. Does anyone know of an Art or Portrait studio located in the Christiansburg area before 1920? My great-aunt, Annie Parsell worked at such a studio; have no burial place for her. Thought she might be buried in Montgomery county. She was born 11 August 1881, died 22 June 1920. Any information is appreciated
