I am researching the NOSLER-NOZLER-NAUSLAR Family. Sebastian or Boston Nosler arrived in Virginia prior to 1758, when he is first mentioned as a member of the Virginia Colinial Militia from Augusta County. He moved on to Greenbrier, Montgomery, and Giles County. Sebastian was married to Sophia (?) . They were the parents of John Nosler, Boston Nosler Jr. Eva Nosler, Sophia Nosler, Conrad Nosler, Jane Nosler, Mary Elizabeth Nosler and James Nosler. Boston and his wife lived in Augusta County until 1774 settling in Greenbrier, Giles and Montgomery County along Tom's Creek. It is thought that Boston Nosler died circa 1813, for that is the last record of him in Montgomery County Taz Records. He did go to Knox County Tennessee about 1805-1806 and returned to Montgomery County. Irving blabon

James W. Morton (Moten) married Lucinda M. Sowder, on 11 June 1856 in Montgomery County, VA. She was the daughter of James Sowder and Juliann Smith. She was born 1834/1835 in Montgomery County, VA. 1850 Census Record for Mongtomery County have the following for JAmes Sowder. 1049/1049 James Sowder 40 M Farmer 1000 VA Cynthia 44 F VA (she may have been a Sowder that married a Lore, before marrying James on 1 Jan 1950 Montgomery Co, VA) Lucinda M. 15 F VA (married James Moten on 11 June 1856, Montgomery County, VA Elizabeth 14 F VA (married a Poff, don't have my notes) Michael 13 M VA (never married, died in Raliegh County, WVA of unknown cause in 1855?, don't have notes) James L 13 M VA (didn't realize that their was a twin for him til I saw the census record for the family today) Radford ? M VA (didn't realize that their were more children after Michael, now need to look into Raleigh County, where James and Cynthia and Michael were recorded to have died in the 1855 and 1856) They apparently left Montgomery County something after the census was taken in 1850 and when to Raleigh County, where they died in 1855 and 1856. Michael was 20 when he died) The interesting thing is that Lucinda M. My ancestor, married her husband in Montgomery County, Va, after her father and brother had died, I think that her step-mother was died as well if I remember right. Ellen Sowder 11 F (don't know of this one either) William 6 (don't know of this one either) Eliza Lore 24 (don't know of this one either, must be from Cynthia previous marriage. Their was one of Cynthia son that apparently live with them at the time of this census that was the informant on Michael death in Raleigh County) Doesn't anyone know of these children or of James Moten and his parents Thomas and Mary Morton (Moten) James and Juliann Smith were married 11 Nov 1833 in Floyd County, VA. Was their a Floyd county in 1833? Because Floyd was made from Montgomery County, VA, but I don't remember when. Sandy Sandra K. I never start these ROLL CALLS, but have gained things from them. Thought the following might be explanatory. My way serves the same purpose as a ROLL CALL, but I think fits in with the mail lists which do not allow ROLL CALL. You can still participate in a ROLL CALL. The idea was for the members to get the names they are researching out on the Internet again and they called it a ROLL CALL. You should put the SURNAME of the person you are researching in the subject line with an approximate date. Example BROWN, Robert>VA/OH early 1800s. Or Robert VA/OH 1750s for surname lists. Then in the letter you could be more specific. I would send an e-mail for each name. This way each name you are searching gets undivided attention. I don't think that a ROLL CALL with just a list of names serves much purpose, as we never know what years are involved or anything else. The ones I benefited from were the ones who had a surname in the subject line and more details in the body of the message. Roll Call tells us nothing and when you are rushed or as busy as many of us are, we delete and never look and you are cheating yourselves as well as others because the answer might be there, but no one opens it to find out. There is room to do 1 or 2 names/surnames in the subject line. Perhaps Brown, Jones, Smith 1800s, or John 1850, William 1880. This tells everyone a lot. As has been pointed out, this is also a problem for the Archives. Can you imagine going into the Archives and checking to see if in the past several years someone was searching your name so you can contact them, and there you find 1000 queries titled ROLL CALL? Would you open those or skip them? Just think you might miss that connection you have been searching for for years. Thanks for writing. Sandy in Florida Maybe I will catch up with my mail when I retire, in 2010, <grin>
