Hello! I am new on this list. I am looking for parents, siblings and early wives and children of Joseph BOWLING (also spelled BOLLING, BOLEN, BOLDWIN, etc) who was born in 1753---I don't know where. Joseph was a Rev War veteran, was at Valley Forge, and wounded at Monmouth. He was discharged in Philadelphia PA and then was in TN by 1802 and KY by 1815. He was in Crawford Co IN where he filed his first pension applicatiion in 1820. That original first document is missing. He was a Rev War veteran who died in Orange Co IN in 1836. I have Todd Bolin's book and also Joseph's Rev War pension wife and that of his last wife Martha (WILLIAMS.) Must conflicting info. Any info is appreciated. Thank you all! I am a new lister searching for gggrandparents William Salisbury and Mary (Leibrook) Salisbury, and have hit the proverbial brick wall. The 1850 Louisiana Census enumerates Wm and Mary along with several children, all from Louisiana. In the 1850 Census, William (born @ 1815-1819) 35 yrs old, was from Virginia, and Mary (born about 1825) 25 yrs old, was from Germany. I have searched in LA and found they both died in New Orleans. So I am now back tracking to VA, but I don't know where in VA. I believe Mary had a brother, Francis, and a sister, Catherine Leibrook. One document says that Francis was from Alsace, born about 1824. If anyone recognizes these names or can offer any suggestions, I would appreciate hearing from you. Also, can anyone tell me about the name "Leibrook". It doesn't seem to be very common in the New Orleans area. I am trying to learn the migration pattern along the way from Germany or France???? Hi! I am new to the list and need to introduce my research. One of my greatgrandmothers was Oliva Francis WHEELER, born July 1861Giles Co., Va , died after 1931 in Giles Co.,married to James A. SCOTT, May 1, 1879 in Pulaski Co., Va. Though I haven't yet found her date of death, I do know her parents names and am very interested in connecting to someone researching her father's line. Oliva WHEELER was the daughter of Alcain WHEELER and Mary S. CRINER who married in Giles Co.,Va 27 Sept.1860.Alcain, was 22 and the son of Eliza J. WHEELER of Montgomery Co., Va Alcain WHEELER is hard to track as his name never appears the same way twice.I have found : 1860 Giles Co., Va Census - Alvanon WHEELER , 21 , lawyer 1860 Confederate Army Enlistment - 36th Va - A.C. WHEELER 1870 Pulaski Co., Va Census - Elkene WHEELING - 31, farmer 1880 Giles Co., Va Census - Alcane WHEELER- 41, farmer then nothing. Children of Alcain WHEELER and Mary S. CRINER : Oliva F. - b. Hello: I was wondering if any one know what someone with the name Emma's real name could be. I got marriage certificate that list the mother's name as Emma. Can Emma be a nickname for some other name like Peggy is for Margaret? Paul: I found out what the initial L & E stood for on my gggrandfather's marriage certificate. I sent for the actual certificate from Pulaski CH and the information is different from the books, although I can not read the father's name clearly but it's another starting point.
