Hi Kent, I would try looking at the 14th Virginia Infantry volume, part of the Virginia Regimental Histories Series. Each volume has very good unit roster and unit history. Some information on ordering each volume is found on this site: http://members.aol.com/jweaver300/grayson/howard.htm I don't know if the ordering information on this site is current or not, or if they have the volume in stock. For other resources, try looking at the The Virginia Civil War Home Page at: http://members.aol.com/jweaver300/grayson/vacwhp.htm The following page mentions the various infantries out of Mecklenburg County, VA. http://members.aol.com/jweaver300/grayson/vaco-mn.htm#meck MECKLENBURG COUNTY Co. A, 3rd VA Cav., Boydton Cavalry Co. E, 14th VA Inf., Clarksville Blues Co. F, 14th VA Inf., Chambliss Grays Co. G2, 14th VA Inf., Capt. Willaim W. Wood's Co. Co. C, 21th VA Inf., Oliver Greys Co. K, 21st VA Inf., Meherrin Grays Co. B, 34th VA Inf., Mecklenburg Heavy Artillery Co. G, 38th VA Inf., Mecklenburg Rifles Co. A, 56th VA Inf., Mecklenburg Guards Co. B, 56th VA Inf., Mecklenburg Spartans Co. G3, 59th VA Inf., Capt. Henry Wood's Co. Capt. Henry Pride's Co., VA LDT. I have a copy of the 38th & 59th Virginia Infantry. They are both good sources. If you don't want to purchase your own copy, check with your local library. It might be able to borrow the 14th VA Infantry for you through an Inter-Library Loan. I looked in my copies of the 38th & 59th VA Infantries, but did not see any Elams listed. If you acquire a copy, let me know, there are several people I would ask you to check for. This bookstore might also have the 14th VA Infantry in stock: Farnsworth House Book Shop 401 Baltimore Street Gettysburg, PA 17325 (717) 334-8838 For others in the list, I am willing to do limited lookups in the 38th & 59th VA Infantries, just drop me an e-mail and I'll take a look. I subscribe in digest mode so it might be several days before I get the request & have the opportunity to do a lookup.
