The headwaters of Allens Creek begin on the north side of Virginia Highway 47, some 3 miles east of Chase City, Virginia, and in the Scott's Crossroads Community. Allens Creek then meanders southerly through the geographical center of Mecklenburg County, east of the town of Boydton, where U.S. Highway 58 crosses it. Several smaller creeks and branches empty into Allens Creek, such as Long Branch, Laytons Creek, Coleman's Creek, etc. Virginia Highway 4 crosses Allens Creek about three miles northwest of John H. Kerr Dam. The Creek empties into the Roanoke River just northeast of the John H. Kerr Dam, in the vicinity of Buggs Island (actual island) that is below the Dam. Hope this helps. J.
