Sorry, I forgot to paste the url. Wow! You will be lucky if you get all that. Maybe it would be easier to just go to the Library of Congress Web page & search Mecklenburg County: <http://catalog.loc.gov/>http://catalog.loc.gov/ <http://catalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?SA1=Mecklenburg+Co.%2C+VA&BOO L1=all+of+these&FLD1=Keyword+Anywhere+%28GKEY%29+%28GKEY%29&GRP1=AND+with+ne xt+set&SA2=&BOOL2=any+of+these&FLD2=Keyword+Anywhere+%28GKEY%29+%28GKEY%29&G RP2=NOT+with+next+set&SA3=&BOO>http://catalog.loc.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi ?SA1=Mecklenburg+Co.%2C+VA&BOOL1=all+of+these&FLD1=Keyword+Anywhere+%28GKEY% 29+%28GKEY%29&GRP1=AND+with+next+set&SA2=&BOOL2=any+of+these&FLD2=Keyword+An ywhere+%28GKEY%29+%28GKEY%29&GRP2=NOT+with+next+set&SA3=&BOOL3=any+of+these& FLD3=Keyword+Anywhere+%28GKEY%29+%28GKEY%29&PID=29151&SEQ=19991101183401&HIS T=1&CNT=25+records+per+screen JoLee

I did a search at the Library of Congress Web Site and there are two map, of different sizes. Below is my search result for one of them. Now if someone else out there will get the ordering information, that would be great! We will put it on the Mecklenburg page. Following is a URL that should get you to the web site. Because of the length of it, you may have to paste it, rather than click on it. Sorry, I myself cannot do look-ups on the map at the back of the book! The print is small and too much for my eyes. But I would like to order a copy of the map. =========================================== >From: voyager@ilssv1.loc.gov >Date: Mon, 1 Nov 1999 18:45:53 -0500 (EST) >To: spearsj@bellsouth.net >Subject: Opac Guided Keyword Search for Mecklenburg AND Co AND VAin Keyword Anywhere GKEY > >LC Control Number: unk82064008 > >Type of Material: Cartographic Material > >Personal Name: Graves, H. Hello. I'm new to the list. I am looking for any connections to the FOWLER family in Mecklenburg. Mason FOWLER is my 4th gr-grandfather b. abt 1775 in Mecklenburg. Believe his father to be Thomas b abt 1727 in Chesterfield Co and then his father, Thomas, b. in Henrico Co abt 1699. Only have a small bit of information right now gleaned from secondary sources. Anyone else researching these families or have any info on them? Thank you. Gail Gordon gmgordon@execpc.com http://www.execpc.com/~gmgordon Milwaukee, WI
Dear List, I have a copy of "Life by the Roaring Roanoke" by Susan L. Bracey. On the inside front cover is a relatively modern map of Mecklenburg. On the inside back cover is a map which appears to be from about 1864. It has names of residents of the county listed where they lived. Does anyone know if this map is available for purchase? I certainly would like to have a copy of this map in a larger form. Thanks, Kent Elam

Hello Georgia, Thanks for your note, but I did not recognize any of the names. However, since you are working in the Mecklenburg County records, I would appreciate it if you would be on the lookout for death records of Basil (Bazle) Wagstaff. Sorry Mel but I don't recognize the name. Most of what I have in that time frame is in Granville County NC. I do have a Martha Moore who was in Orange County in 1880. I will keep a lookout for Sarah Lett though. There are several James Moores in our line. Thanks.
