I was wondering if anyone is researching the Keziah Pinion who married May 11, 1779 to a "Sharpe" in Mecklenburg Co., VA? Did this Keziah die somewhere between 1796-1802? Was she married to Mark Sharp of Mecklenburg Co., VA? What was her relationship to Turner Sharp? Would appreciate any clue no matter how small! Thank you! Carol Hurley

The AVERYs in this document were actually AVERETTs. HENRY AVERETT was my 4th.grt.gr. I have other documents which show the name to be AVERETT. It is also interesting to note that my 3rd grt.gr., ELIJAH AVERETT moved to Granville Co., as did some of the Roysters and Hesters, who at various times married AVERETTs. Lewis H. Averett
Is this the same James Hester in deed and legal will? ------from Mr. Emery Hite--In Mecklenburg Co VA, Rachel Hite Roberts(widow) wrote her will on 29 April 1799 (processed 12 Oct 1801). In the will Rachel leaves items to her Granddaughter Susannah Hyde and Susannah's daughter Elizabeth Sangford Hyde(Sanford?-grear grand). All items lent to Susannah for her life time were to go to Elizabeth at Susannah's death. Francis Hester and Charles Hester witnessed the writing of the will. When the will was processed in 1801, Stephen Pettypool made oath with Howel Graves, his security, to replace Francis Hester who relinquisted his rights as adminstrator of the will. On 16 Nov 1801 an inventory of Rachel's estate (7 items) was filed by Daniel Durham(Duncan?of Caswell Co NC?), James Hester and James Williams. --------------Aug 51 1779 from Matthew Avery of Meck, to James Hester of M, for 250 lb, about 100 acres in Mec, and bounded by Joseph Royster, Henry Avery, and William Avery, being the whole of the tract of land whereon I now live. Signed - Matthew (4 his mark) Avery. Wit - Joseph Royster, Francis Hester, Henry (X his mark) Avery. Recorded Mar 13, 1780.

Hi, I'm planning my first trip to research and visit historical societies & court houses. Hope some of you seasoned researchers will give me a few tips....... This trip will include Mecklenburg, Lunenburg, Culpeper Co., Williamsburg VA and Frankfort KY. Plans are to stay two or three night at each stop. I have already researched to web sites in Virginia and Kentucky but still feel somewhat anxious about this adventure. I hope to make the best use of time and still have time to sight see. I'm making to-do lists as I don't always stay focused so I'm looking for any and all tips. Since I already have most of the basic info on these ancestors I would like to explore some of the not common places to look. What about city directories...where would I look for these? Thanks, Rosemary Webb Researching: ABBOTT - BLACKETER - COLVIN - DUNCAN - HOBBLET - LEECH - LOCKMAN - REYNOLDS - TIMMONS
Jo Lee: So happy to see your post on the "White House #1" followup. Thanks... This is the area of my ancestors ---the Ezells...I still have a lot of research to do in Lunenburg County. Since this is your area too, do you have any books or records that might contain the Ezell name? I copied what they had in Deed book # 1----and then ordered what they had in Salt Lake. However, they didn't have all the pages that showed Ezells in the various books, but I did get what they had. It seems that there were two different versions of the deed books and the page #'s don't match up. After I send this note to you, I will try to get into the picture and copy it. For those of you who stuck by me during my search for the "lost" White House #1 of Buffalo Creek in Mecklenburg. The house was found late one evening in January, in upper Granville Co., NC, the owner not at home, and I promised you a report in two weeks. That report was delayed because of the humongous snow in this part of the country. Added to that, the new owner injured his back and his wife broke her leg during the snow. Yesterday was a beautiful 70+ degree day, so we made the trip to Granville. It was quite awesome to see the old home so beautifully located and so cherished. It couldn't be in better hands. We took many pictures, but I couldn't wait to show you, so Fred Puckett, the now owner, loaned some to me and they can be viewed at the below VAGenWeb Photo Album site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/va/photo/mecklenburg/pmecklen.htm (In case the URL doubles, click on the 1st part) The day was moving on, but I was eager to visit the South Fork of Meherrin area of Mecklenburg/Lunenburg, as that is my new personal project. It was getting late to take photos, but I did get some off old Fort Mitchell 3-room grammar school in the corner of Lunenburg. It was abandoned many years ago as a school, later was in the hands of a fraternal organization, I believe, and now appears not to be used for anything. We walked around snapping photos. As I pointed in the direction of the girl's old outdoor "powder room," lo and behold, as you followed the direction of my pointed finger, atilt in some old scrub trees & brush, were the remains of the old "powder room," build to accommodate three. Time marches on...
