    3. Penny... I got it ! William James Wright was born abt 1815 in Mecklenburg County, VA and died 8-4-1862 in Cleveland County, NC. He married Elizabeth Newton Dec 15, 1840. His family moved from Chase City, VA in the late 1850's to live near his Father...John, in the Pleasant Grove section of Shelby, NC. William James served in the CSA, CO E, 12th NC Regt. He is buried at Double Shoals Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. Elizabeth Newton is buried at Zion Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. They had 9 children. Nancy ...born 8-5-1843 died 12-28-1908 William Henry ..born abt 1843 died 7-15-1862 Richmond VA James Berry born 01-01-1845 died 1-7-1933 Mary Francis born 10-1850 died abt 1905 Alma born 7-8-1949 died 6-7-1905 Martha Caroline born abt 1853 Susan born abt 1856 Cynthia Alice born abt 1859 died 12-25-1887 John Franklin Sod....6-7-1862 died 4-4-1932. One the son of the above "Doct," who I believe is supposed to have been Doct Spencer C. Vaughan (I believe other co. records show). The other is _said_ to have been the son of Peter Vaughan. One David was m. to "Littuce (sp)" & the other David m. "Philadelphia." I don't know if this small piece will help. By the way, I am happy to see you putting all of those Buffalo Creek families together.     3. In working with some Mecklenburg County deeds, it appears that "Butler's Branch" in the early 1800s was the same as the more recent "Tanyard Branch," a branch on the west of Big Buffalo Creek. Can anyone help me confirm or deny this?     3. Absolom Roberts married Susannah B. Collier 09/03/1807 in Mecklenburg, Va. William Roberts, Jr. married Frances Roberts 08/21/1802 in Mecklenburg, Va. I checked all the Roberts on my marriage index against the name Yancey and it didn't turn up anything. Not to say that there is no connection. It does list a lot of Yancey's in Mecklenburg, though. Do you have other surnames to check against Yancey? June

    3. The Phillip Morgan married to Mary ?? is the line I am interested in. His son Morgan is the father of Mary Ann Morgan who married Frederick Rainey. Frederick and Mary Ann are my 5th great grandparents. I would like to extend the family back further than Phillip. I have two reports on the birth date of Phillip one is 1727 and the other (a Bible state 1724). The 1727 date is probably a babtizem date. Any information you might have on him or the family I would appreciate.
