    3. Hi James, I have been researching my Williamson ancestors in Mecklenburg County. They lived south of Clarksville, VA near the North Carolina border. They have been clustered in what is today the Shiney Rock Road, the old Stateline Baptist Church, and the Grassy Creek (North Carolina) areas. The furthest back I have gotten is James R. Williamson, d. Mar 1883, who was married to Malinda. Do you recognize this name? Regards, Randy Garrett James W Phillips wrote: Fred, Would your grandfather name be Edward Williamson Yancey...son of John B. Yancey and Mary "Polly" Williamson.... 2. Randy Have you done your Garrett side? I am looking for a Rachel Garrett who was married to Rev. Benjamin Brown who died in 1805 and they are both buried in St. Johns churchyard in Hampton, Va. I cannot find my book right off hand so I am not sure when she died but it was awhile after he died. Benjamin was born at Four Mile Tree in Surry County. I have no idea where Rachel came from . I am assuming it was close by. Sure hope you can help me. Thanks, Martha

    2. The Duke authority, as far as I know, is Evelyn Duke Brandenberger of Houston, TX. She is about 93 yrs old now, but as sharp as a tack. I have copies of both of her books on the Duke family. No mention is made of a Sarah Lett, but I will keep my eye peeled for her. I would love to have a copy of the Mecklenberg land map. However you want to get it to me is ok. I will happily reimburse you for expenses. My snail mail address is: Evelyn Mitchell Smith, 302 NW Ridgeview Way, Lawton, OK 73505-6132. Thanks so much. Let's keep in touch. Where did your Sarah Lett Duke live after Mecklenberg Co, VA? Where did she marry Mr. Duke? I will happily check the Duke books for a connection. EM Smith

    3. In regards to my article published in Tidewater Virginia Famillies, I forgot to mention that for some unknown reason the computer failed to print the word 'Drury' He is a son of Obadiah Smith III who is son of Luke Smith and Arabella Gromarrin. At some point a Gromarrin married a Pettipool. I don't remember if that is in my url of the Obadiah Smith family.I posteed earlier.
