I have been looking at an old map of Orange County that is on the Library of Congress website. It is credited to a man named Lezard (I think that I have that spelling correct) and is dated 186? on the website. There is a marking at Mallory's Ford on the North Anna River on the border of that says Hawkins Tannery. I am looking for ideas on how to find out more about this Hawkins Tannery. Any ideas from anyone out there? I would also be excited to hear from anyone any information that anyone might have that would be related to the profession of Tanner. How about you who have Hawkins ancestors in KY....do you have Tanners among them? Marsha Moses
