    3. The marriages of Louisa Co., VA 1766-1815 and 1815 to 1861 have been published. I was speaking about copies of the original pieces of paper the bride, groom and other parties may have written. "Marriages of Louisa County, Virginia 1766-1715" compiled by Kathleen Booth Williams, C. J. Carrier Co., Harrisonburg, VA, 1977 publisher "Marriages of Louisa Co., VA 1815-1861" compiled by William H. Kiblinger and Janice L. Abercrombie, Central Virginia Newspapers, Inc., Orange, VA, 1989. The 1815-1861 book is available through the Louisa County Historical Society. As to what information can be found in a marriage bond - it varies. The earlier ones sometimes have the name of one parent but not necessarily. It will have the name of one or two sureties. Sometimes the actual date of the marriage is given. Later some bonds begin to give more information such as the name of one parent, name of the minister. Of course the date of the bond is given. Even later say after 1867 the occupation of the groom is given, both parties place of residence and place of birth as well as the names of parents.
