    3. Sally: I know the Louisa courthouse has chancery books accessible that record chancery entries and dates. However, the last time I actually tried to access the actual record of a chancery book entry there, it was unavailable. It is my understanding that the records were sent to the Library of Virginia for microfilming and most of the chancery papers were tied up in a flap over payment for achive services. It has been a couple of years since I last tried. Maybe things have changed since then. The Library of Virginia catalogue is my first choice for resources. Second is finding someone in Louisa kind enough to check on availability at the courthouse before making a special trip. Hope this helps.
