Sheriff married Elizabeth MERIWETHER on 8 Dec 1762 in Goochland Co, VA. Elizabeth was born 8 Mar 1744 in Albemarle Co, VA. She died 1 Sep 1812. They had the following children: 2 F i. Mary Meriwether JOHNSON was born 30 Aug 1763. She died 22 Nov 1823. Mary married John WINSTON Jr, son of John WINSTON Sr and Alice BICKERTON, on 7 Dec 1780. John was born 14 Sep 1757. He died 28 Apr 1800. 3 F ii. Elizabeth Thornton JOHNSON was born Nov 1765. She died Mar 1823. Elizabeth married Rev John POINDEXTER, son of Thomas POINDEXTER and Lucy JONES. 4 M iii. Nicholas JOHNSON was born 11 Aug 1768. He died 1831 in AL. 5 M iv. Francis JOHNSON was born 30 Nov 1770. Francis married Barbara MITCHELL. 6 F v. Lucy JOHNSON was born 27 Feb 1773. Lucy married William QUARLES, son of John QUARLES and Sarah WINSTON. 7 F vi. Rebecca JOHNSON was born 2 Jan 1775. Rebecca married Joseph WINSTON, son of John WINSTON Sr and Alice BICKERTON. 8 M vii. David JOHNSON was born 7 Aug 1778. He died 21 Jun 1833. 9 F viii. Sarah JOHNSON was born Aug 1782. Sarah married Richard OVERTON. 10 M ix. Thomas JOHNSON Jr "S. S." was born 14 Nov 1783 in Louisa Co, VA. He died 2 Nov 1842 in Louisa Co, VA. S. S. married (1) Ann Catherine Harriet WASHINGTON, daughter of Henry WASHINGTON and Anne QUARLES, in 1804. Ann was born 10 May 1788 in Mechamps Creek, Albemarle Co, VA. S. S. also married (2) Martha WINSTON, daughter of Bickerton Todd WINSTON and Mary Anne Lyle SMELT "Nancy", on 7 Apr 1823. 11 F x.
