Polly's father was Henry Chiles b. 11th day 5th month 1752, second son of Manoah Chiles and his second wife, Anne Cheadle. His mother was Sarah Cheadle, b. c. 1755, daughter of Thomas Cheadle and Judith Woodson. Henry and Anne were reported to have been married 9 May 1772. Fleming and Tarlton Chiles named in the guardian bond were Polly's brothers. see Virginia L. H. Davis, Tidewater Virginia Families, p. 292-293. Hope this helps. Is the Polly who was the daughter of Henry Chiles and Sarah Cheadle the same Polly you seek? Yours married Houchins; while I have this Polly (real name Mary C. Chiles, born 25 June, 1797) as having married William Mercer Samuel in 1817 (see Tidewater Virginia Families : Generations Beyond, p. 69 and Historical Genealogy of the Woodsons and Their Connections, p. 647). If the same woman, she married Houchins at about age 13, then Samuel when she was 20. And maybe she married again, to Judge William Morris (Genealogies of Kentucky Families from the Register.....p. 127). Can anyone clarify with any certainty, please? Carrying on with this family, can anyone say where Polly's parents, Henry and Sarah (Cheadle) Chiles, are buried, please? Also, both were disowned by their Quaker Church for marrying (they were first cousins) and without parental consent. It seems as if Henry was reinstated, but I cannot find that Sarah ever was.
