Hello, I am new to this list because it was just today that I found my connection to Louisa County. My g-g grandmother, Catherine McCarthy died in November 1917 in Luzerne Co., PA. Today, I got a copy of her will. In the will says "I give, devise, and bequeath to my grandchildren, Joseph, Maria, and James Fisher my farm consisting of 150 acres of land situated in Louise County, Virginia, share and share alike, to them, their heirs and assigns, forever." I know this is very little information to go on, but I was wondering if anyone can give me any ideas as to how I might find out more information about this property, i.e. how she got it, who was living on it, what happened to it after the grandchildren inherited it. To my knowledge, my g-g grandmother came from Ireland in 1858 and arrived in either MA or CT. She settled in New Haven, CT for several years before coming to PA in 1868. I do not believe she ever left Luzerne Co. unless she went to visit someone in VA. I am 99% sure she never lived there. Yet, this is a complete surprise knowing she had land in VA. I knew my Uncle Jim and Aunt Marie (two of the grandchildren) and they never talked about a farm in VA. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Anne Marie
