About the willed property in Louisa Co. by someone who didn't live in Louisa Co. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, there was much mining in around Mineral in Louisa Co. Many of the engineers, etc. came from Pennsylvania. It could be that Catherine McCarthy got her land from one of these miners. Since it was real estate she willed, her will will most likely be on file at the courthouse. Tax records would show who paid taxes on it, if she got the land by deed, who the heirs deeded the land to and how long they kept it. I do know that there were some Fisher families associated with the mines but don't remember their given names. Maybe some more surnames associated with Catherine would be helpful. Was McCarthy her married name, if so what was her maiden name? Janice
