    3. In a word, yes. St. Thomas was created in 1740 by dividing St. Mark's Parish. The Rapidan River was the dividing line. When Culpeper County was created in 1749, St. Mark's Parish fell into that county and St. Thomas stayed in Orange. Mary E.
